Angels On Upswing, Increase Investments

NEW HAMPSHIRE -- Angel investing continues to rise in popularity and quantity, according to a research report from the Center for Venture Research at the University of New Hampshire.

The study estimated that 234,000 angels invested $25.6 billion in 2006 among 51,000 ventures.

Most active industries were healthcare services, medical devices, followed by software and biotechnology.  The report also credited these angel investments with creating 201,400 jobs during the year.
